Classroom Aides

If you enjoy working with children and want to make a difference, this may be the career path for you. A+ Teachers is looking for individuals with strong interpersonal skills, patience, flexibility, and determination to fill the following positions.

Teacher's Aide

Teacher aides provide support for full-time teachers, helping them with classroom activities and clerical work. This can involve providing individual attention to students in need of extra assistance or monitoring students while the teacher is out. Those interested in being a teacher's aide should complete an associate's degree or two years of college; however a high school diploma and training are sufficient in some districts.

Special Education Assistant

Special education instructional assistants, also know as para-professionals, work exclusively with students identified with special education needs. They attend to the academic and physical challenges of these students; as well as, provide support to the teachers. Most schools require special education assistants to have at least a high-school diploma as well as on-the-job training.

Certified Nursing Assistant

A certified nursing assistant works under the auspices of the school certified nurse assisting him/her with screenings and other daily activities.

Paraeducator

Paraeducators provide instructional support which may include:

(1) one-on-one tutoring
(2) assist with classroom management
(3) provide instructional assistance in a computer laboratory
(4) conduct parental involvement activities
(5) provide instructional support in a library or media center
(6) act as a translator
(7) provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a highly qualified teacher or professional practitioner

Qualifications / Required Documents

  • High School diploma
  • 1+ year experience working with children
  • College experience or Associates degree preferred
  • Special Education experience a plus
  • Resume

Training for the following will be provided (unless you are able to provide proof of completion).

  • Act 126 Child Abuse Recognition & Mandatory Recording Act
  • Act 71 Youth Suicide Awareness and Prevention
  • Hazard Communication – OSHA Training
